You’re tired, you’ve lost muscle mass, your hair is falling out, and your mood swings are becoming more and more volatile — in short, you’re struggling with a hormone imbalance. That’s the bad news.
The good news is that treatment is easily accessible, extremely effective, and designed to fit your lifestyle.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is the best tool we have to reverse the effects of a hormone imbalance and restore your physical, mental, and emotional health.
There are a few main types of BHRT:
During your consultation with Hellen Ndungu, FNP, and our team at Rebuil-T Healthcare, we help you decide which form of BHRT is best for you. But until then, here are a few things to consider to make the decision even easier.
You already have so much on your plate; why add another thing to your daily to-do list? Many of our more on-the-go patients opt for injections and pellet implants because they’re the least hands-on.
You simply have to see us every 2-3 weeks for an injection or every 3-4 months for another pellet implant. After you’ve gone through the initial consultation phase, your follow-up appointments are much faster and only take a few minutes so you can squeeze them in over your lunch hour or between errands.
We recommend patches and gels for patients who want to be as involved as possible in administering their BHRT. You are responsible for applying your patches or gel daily, so you know exactly how much hormones go into your body.
Remember that being in charge means you have to remember to fit your hormone replacement into your daily routine. If that doesn’t sound like something you can keep up with, we might recommend a different type of BHRT.
Scared of needles? Not interested in the pellet implantation process? Gels and patches might be the best fit for you.
Once we’ve inserted a hormone pellet, we can’t reverse their effects until they’ve dissolved. Injections, patches, and gels, on the other hand, can be reversed virtually at a moment’s notice.
The good news is that injections, pellets, patches, and gels all carry the same (low) risk. Any side effects you might experience (bloating, weight gain, fatigue, mood swings) are rare, and when they do occur, they typically subside within a few days or weeks. As your body adjusts to the new hormone levels, it reacts less and less to each dosage.
Your likelihood of experiencing adverse reactions also depends heavily on your personal medical history. We walk you through exactly what to expect, so you know what’s a normal response to treatment.
Each type of BHRT has the same goal: to restore your depleted hormone levels. How you receive those replacement hormones is almost entirely up to you. But don’t just take our word for it.
If you’re interested in BHRT, a consultation is the best place to start. During your discussion with our experts, you learn even more about each type of BHRT, get to ask questions, voice your concerns, and ultimately decide on the best course of action.
